Edinburgh College came about as result of a 2012 merger of Edinburgh’s Telford, Jewel & Esk, and Stevenson Colleges. Since that time the college has established a technologically-driven and green-friendly environment. A Board of Management runs the college and has regular board meetings, and the school's operations receive direction from the Constitution, Articles of Governance and Register of Interests.

Edinburgh College offers courses in the fields of business and management, community and outreach, creative industries, engineering and food, and hospitality and tourism. English courses are available for foreign students. Students can view individual course descriptions within each category, and accompanying each course page is an Apply Now button they can use to begin the application process.

The college offers business and conference facilities for rent on its campuses. A small number of services, such as The Apprentice restaurant, are available on campus. Also available are space for sporting events, sound and recording studios, a nursery, and college radio and television stations.
