DreamBox Learning helps students improve their math skills by giving them the skills to construct new knowledge and discover how math works based on prior knowledge and life experiences. The program is designed to assess individual progress and student mastery to ensure children grow without losing time on mastered skills.
The DreamBox curriculum is a rigorous, research-based, pedagogically sound curriculum aligned to Common Core standards. DreamBox is available for purchase for personal home use or as a school package designed to support math curriculum in the classroom. The DreamBox curriculum supports all math curricula or can be used as the sole curriculum in a classroom through the middle school level.
Lessons are organized by topic. A student uses the visuals as manipulatives, moving and rearranging icons to show how the concepts being taught work. Understanding is checked at every step of the mathematic operation so that any error is immediately addressed until the student gives a correct answer. This also allows parents or teachers to pinpoint exactly where a student's strengths and weaknesses lie.
DreamBox can be accessed on a computer, laptop or iPad, making the curriculum easily transportable. The company offers a free trial period and starts just under $13 per month per child for home use, as of 2015. DreamBox is available in English and Spanish.
