Paso Robles High School Culinary Arts Academy and Food and Finance High School are both culinary high schools. There are also many schools such as Rockwall High School and Harry S Truman High School that have good culinary arts programs.
Paso Robles High School Culinary Arts Academy, located in California, boasts a four-semester program that covers not only nutrition and sanitation classes but also horticultural and agricultural courses as well. Students learn cooking techniques in the full-production kitchen and catering and table service skills in the dining room. Food prepared by students is available in the Academy Cafe for public consumption.
As of 2015, the Food and Finance High School is the only culinary high school available for students in New York City. Students undergo a three-year culinary curriculum alongside other academic courses. The cooking classes culminate in senior internships. Students also learn about food science, hydroponics, aquaponics and aquaculture through the participating Cornell University. A large percentage of graduates go on to culinary universities.
Some high schools are not primarily culinary in nature but offer top-rated culinary arts programs, such as Harry S Truman High School in New York City and Rockwall High School in Texas. The former features a four-year program that focuses on cooking courses, restaurant management and hospitality. The latter provides an award-winning program and a state-of-the-art kitchen.
