The AAFA's program in asthma management and education consists of 12 modules. Those who successfully complete these modules may pursue an additional seven continuing education credits. These additional credits are available in conjunction with the American Nurses’ Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation and the American Association for Respiratory Care. Examples of topics within the asthma management and education program include environmental allergens, pathophysiology, bronchodilator medication and measurement of lung function.

Topic categories available through the American Association of Respiratory Care include adult critical care, asthma, disaster preparedness, sleep medicine and patient safety.
