A concierge service completes small tasks that a client requests, and the individual completing the tasks is called a concierge. Some things that a concierge can do for clients include making dinner reservations, calling taxis and arranging housekeeping or babysitting services.
In many hotels, offices and apartment complexes, the management of the facility pays for the concierge service. In this case, there is no charge to the guests or residents for using the services, although most concierges accept tips. Concierges hired directly by an individual are personal concierges and often provide more personal services such as buying gifts and depositing checks at the bank.
