What Is a Community Hall?

A community hall is a place of gathering for people within the village or city. A community hall may be used for educational workshops, cultural activities, social gatherings such as weddings or private parties, or city-sponsored events such as job fairs, historical celebrations and voting registration.

A community hall may also be used to house city council meetings, political rallies and board meetings for the local school district. A community hall is sometimes owned by the city and rented to residents for private gatherings. Many cities require renters show proof of residency so the hall is available primarily to people within the community.
