GateWay Community College opened in 1968 with the goal of meeting the needs of the community. It was the first college in Arizona to customize courses to the needs of industry and business. Furthermore, it was the first college in the state to install a computer. As of 2015, the college offers more than 100 degrees, certificates and vocational trainings.
Phoenix College opened in 1920. It prepares students for university transfer, lifelong learning or career training. The campus features both traditional and modern buildings. A library, a computer lab and a community dental clinic are available on campus. The campus also has a performing arts theatre, a fitness center, athletic fields and a culinary café.
As of 2015, Phoenix College offers more than 150 degree and certificate programs. The college is situated in the heart of Phoenix’s business and cultural centers. The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools has accredited Phoenix College.
Paradise Valley Community College opened in 1985. The number of its employees increased from 62 in 1987 to more than 695 in 2015. The college offers traditional programs in general education. It also offers transfer degrees and certificates in many occupational fields.
