Approximately 264 schools offer a BSc Nursing degree online for those who already hold an RN. These programs are offered by public institutions such as the University of Texas at Arlington, as well as private schools such as Texas Women's University.
The University of Texas at Arlington offers an online RN to BSN degree option that is designed for the practicing registered nurse who wishes to earn a baccalaureate degree. The online program can be completed in 13 months of nursing coursework (32 credits), although part-time options take longer to complete. Nursing courses are in five-week intervals, except for Professional Nursing, which is 10 weeks. In addition, students are required to complete six hours of upper-division electives, one of which must be a nursing course. Electives are offered online throughout the year.
Alternatively, Texas Women's University offers an online RN to BS program designed to facilitate educational mobility for registered nurses who wish to earn the Bachelor of Science degree with a major in nursing. This RN-BS program is 100 percent online and can generally be completed in one calendar year of full-time study. Students may also elect to complete the program on a part-time basis, in which case completion will take longer than one year.
