In the United States there are hundreds of colleges and universities that offer a Bachelor's of General Studies degree (BSG), including the University of Connecticut, University of Miami, California University of Management and Technology, University of Nebraska at Omaha and Charter Oak State College. BSG degrees are growing in popularity.
Because a BSG degree is common in the Western world, it can be found at many colleges and universities. A BSG degree allows students to design a degree plan according to their unique interests while still meeting the academic requirements of their chosen college. Many BSG degrees allow students to choose one or two areas of concentration, acting almost as a minor or content emphasis. Oftentimes, those students who pursue a BSG degree are interested in the liberal arts or humanistic studies. A BSG degree allows them to study a broad range of subjects.
College students who plan on transferring from a two-year college to a university or who are undecided on a degree when they start out may choose to get their associates degree in General Studies to help them decide their bachelor degree. There are masters degrees and even doctorate degrees in General Studies available at select schools.
