The English major is one of the most popular degree options, helping students develop strong critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills. The top 10 colleges to pursue this major in 2015, according to USA Today, are Georgetown University, University of Pennsylvania, University of Washington - Seattle campus, Harvard University, Brown University, University of Virginia, Princeton University, Yale University, College of the Holy Cross and Columbia University.
After completing the English degree, many graduates pursue careers in teaching or continue their education pursuing either a master's degree or a doctorate degree in English. After obtaining the doctorate degree, many graduates obtain teaching positions at a college or university.
