Some of the least expensive boarding schools are the Excelsior School and Valley International Academy, both in California; Mercyhurst Preparatory School in Pennsylvania and the Advanced Academy of Georgia. Mount Michael Benedictine School in Nebraska, Hillcrest Lutheran Academy in Minnesota and Western Mennonite School in Oregon are less-expensive, faith-based schools.
The New Mexico Military Institute and Camden Military Academy in South Carolina are low-cost military boarding schools. Camden and Mount Michael Benedictine are boys-only schools.
Tuition, room and board at these schools ranges from $7,600 to $20,000 per year as of October 2015. Most are college prep schools. At the Advanced Academy of Georgia, open to accelerated 11th and 12th graders, students live at the University of West Georgia and take college-level classes.
