The best charter schools in Indiana are Signature School and Herron High School, according to a 2014 US News and World Report ranking. Some of the other top-rated charter schools include Renaissance Academy Charter School, Discovery Charter School, Dr. Robert H. Faulkner Academy and Tindley Preparatory Academy.
According to US News and World Report, only Signature School and Herron High School are ranked in the top 10 list of Indiana's high schools, at first and second place respectively. Both schools received an A rating from the state. Signature School is ranked fourth among charter schools nationwide and 21st among all high schools. As of 2015, 100 percent of the students are proficient in English and 89 percent are proficient in algebra. The enrollment is fairly small, with only about 300 students.
The other top charter school in Indiana is Herron High School, ranked at second place in Indiana and 51st nationwide among all charter schools, according to US News and World Report. Of the 545 students, one-third are economically disadvantaged, but 91 percent of the students are proficient in English and 68 percent are proficient in algebra.
Although the Renaissance Academy Charter School isn't nationally rated, it has a nine out of 10 rating by GreatSchools.org, with an A state rating. This school includes grades K through eight and has 200 students enrolled, as of 2015.
