After filling out personal and financial information in your Free Application for Federal Student Aid application, you may enter up to 10 schools from which you are requesting financial aid. The federal codes for schools are accessible at FAFSA.ed.gov.
On the FAFSA.ed.gov homepage, select Start a New FAFSA to begin the application. Enter your personal information including name, Social Security number, birthdate, address, and financial information including income taxes for your family for the most recently completed tax year. Then, choose up to 10 schools from which you are seeking financial aid by entering a federal code for each school. Each school calculates its own financial aid offer. To find the federal codes for a school from which you are requesting financial aid, start on the FAFSA.ed.gov homepage, and click School Code Search under the application button. Select the academic year in which you are enrolling and the state in which your school is located. You may optionally type the city and name of the school to narrow the search. After clicking Search, the website lists schools alphabetically by name, with their six-digit Federal School Codes.
