U.S. News & World Report, a well-established organization for educational analyses, posts an annual online ranking of high schools in the United States. The information involved in formulating each ranking comes from public schools in each of the 50 states, as well as the District of Columbia.
A variety of factors influence the formulation of the annual rankings. U.S. News & World Report deems student-to-teacher ratio and college readiness the two most important factors. These rankings solely classify public schools and do not consider private institutions. Supplementary factors in the ranking process include average Advanced Placement test scores and average SAT scores.
