U.S. News and World Report has lists of university rankings, including one that lists the top 100 in the country. The site is the most well-known of its kind for university rankings, and the company has been doing it the longest, according to the Washington Post.
For 2015, the site listed the top universities as Princeton University, Harvard University and Yale University, in that order.
Encyclopedia Britannica notes the company began the ranking in 1983. U.S. News and World Report uses formulas to determine specific scores for each school. Employees evaluate indicators of academic success, such as faculty-to-student ratio, how many students graduate from the school who enter, how selective the school is, and how successful students are after graduation, according to U.S. News and World Report.
