Lists of Pennsylvania's charter and cyber charter schools can be found on the Pennsylvania Department of Education's website. According to the website, it is the only place such lists are available.
Charter schools are public schools that are formed and ran by parents, teachers, community leaders, colleges or universities. They are located in and approved by local school districts. Pennsylvania's cyber charter schools are online schools that are approved by the PA Department of Education. Both types of charter school operate outside of traditional educational mandates except those involving nondiscrimination, health, safety and accountability.
As of December 2014, there are 149 charter schools in Pennsylvania. In addition, there are 14 cyber charter schools and 10 regional charter schools in the state. The list provided by the PA Department of Education includes every school's name, address, phone number, and the date it opened. It also notes each charter's authorizer and the name of its chief administrator. A separate list for the cyber charter schools includes the website for each of the schools.
The Department of Education's website also has annual reports and enrollment data, as well as PSSA performance reports. Furthermore, it provides information for charter school administrators and people interested in creating a charter school.
