The American Heart Association organizes the practice test questions for advanced cardiac life support, or ACLS, certification according to the procedures involved. ACLS practice helps prepare certification candidates for the written test by scoring the practice tests and returning a grade. Candidates are allowed to repeat practice tests.
Twenty-five questions cover the new ACLS Guidelines that the American Heart Association revised and adopted in 2010, with usage to continue in effect through 2015. There is also a 25-question practice test about post-cardiac arrest care, one of the 2010 revisions.
The remaining practice test sections evaluate knowledge of ACLS algorithms, such as acute stroke care, ventricular fibrillation tachycardia and pulseless ventricular tachycardia.
