As of June 2015, The University of Cambridge offers online courses through its Institute of Continuing Education. They are open to anyone who is interested in the topic and are short, intensive 6-week courses. Students who complete the course receive a Certificate of Participation.
Each course at the University of Cambridge consists of an introductory week to meet the other students and 5 weeks of discussion and instruction led by a tutor. Students are expected to participate fully in the course each week. Examples of course topics include forensic science, Shakespeare, Ancient Rome, philosophy of film, the medieval village and the science of the atom from a historical perspective.
