Making practice clocks, singing skip counting songs and encouraging children to track time are effective activities that teach children to tell time. Parents can also replace digital clocks within their home with analog ones or give children analog watches.
Use paper plates to make a practice clock. Glue a small plate inside a large plate and write one through 12 in the appropriate places on the small plate. Write the corresponding minutes on the large plate. Cut out hour and minute hands and fasten them to the center of the clock using a brad or Velcro.
Teach children to track their own time by letting them keep track of time for certain daily activities, such as the length of screen time or time spent in a bath.
