An AA degree, or Associate of Arts degree, is a two-year undergraduate academic degree granted by technical colleges, junior colleges and community colleges. The AA program focuses on general education requirements in math, science, humanities, communications, liberal arts and English.
An Associate of Arts degree is primarily designed for students who attend two-year colleges with the desire to transfer to a four-year college or university. However, some students obtain an AA to enter directly into entry-level positions or obtain more job skills related to their chosen professional industry. Most associate degree programs require approximately 60 to 65 credit hours earned in specific areas of study for graduation.
