What Is a 2.5 GPA Percentage?

A student with a 2.5 GPA has the equivalent of an 80 percent or “B” average. The GPA or grade point average system is used by most high schools, colleges and universities to determine academic performance.

On the GPA scale, which is sometimes referred to as a four-point grade scale, each letter grade is assigned a predetermined number of points. A grade of “A” is assigned four points, while a grade of “B” is assigned three points. “C” grades are assigned two points and “D” grades are assigned one point. An “F” grade receives no points at all. Once the grades are determined, students can tally up the number of points received and divide that number by the number of course credits attempted to arrive at their grade point average.
