Make sure that the paper for the cover letter is the same as the resume. It should match in color and thickness.
At the top of the cover letter, list your name, address, telephone number and email address.
Introduce yourself in the first paragraph by typing your name, the job you're applying for and the way in which you heard about the position.
Detail the skills you have for the particular position you're applying for in the second paragraph. Explain why you are the best candidate for the job.
In the third paragraph, include the next steps that you plan to take, such as following up with a phone call. Write a quick thank you to the employer for taking the time to read your cover letter and resume.
Sign the letter by typing a closing word such as "Respectfully." Leave an empty line for your signature and type your name on the third line. Print the cover letter and sign it on the appropriate line.
