How Do You Write an Apartment Address?
An apartment address, which includes the addressee’s name, building number, street number, apartment number, city, state and ZIP code, is written in one of two ways. It should either list the apartment number on the same line as the building number and street name or on the line above.
Write the addressee’s full name on the first line
The top line of the address should include only the person’s name who is receiving the letter. Write clearly using black or blue ink. If typing the address, use all capital letters.
Write the building number, street name and apartment number below the first line
Below the person’s name, write the building number and street name followed by the apartment number. If there is not enough room on the envelope to include the apartment number on this line, then write the apartment number on the line directly below the person’s name. The building number and street name would then appear on the third line down.
Write the city, state and ZIP code on the last line
On the bottom line of the address, write the city, state and ZIP code of the person receiving the letter. If you are unsure of the ZIP code, use a map application or website to determine the ZIP code.
