Workplace housekeeping is the maintenance and cleanliness of work spaces to ensure employee safety and prevent workplace injuries, according to the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety. Workplace housekeeping activities include keeping aisles clear of debris and swift clean up of spills and waste materials.

According to Safety+Health magazine, a successful workplace housekeeping program includes training for employees on housekeeping tasks they can complete in their work space and learning how to incorporate housekeeping activities into their daily work routine. Regular inspections are also important to ensure compliance with workplace housekeeping rules and to identify and improve upon gaps in the program.
