Since its inception in 2000, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has done a remarkable job in its philanthropic endeavours. Its three trustees include Bill Gates, Melinda Gates and Warren Buffet. The three of them managed to secure more than $42 billion worth of assets, as of 2014, all of which are used to provide funding for charity work and other philanthropic endeavours. Bill Gates alone has supplied $28 billion to the organization, whereas Buffet gave almost $10 billion of his personal fortune to the organization.
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation gives grants to smaller charity organizations in more than 100 countries across the world, though much of their resources have been focused on providing clean drinking water and medical care to developing nations. The largest charity they've funded is the GAVI Alliance, which has used its $1.5 billion in grant funds to provide immunizations to children in developing nations.
Chuck Feeney also deserves mention for his exemplary philanthropic work. Feeney made billions from his duty-free airport shops, and he has used his fortune to found the Atlantic Philanthropics group. Feeney has donated more than $9 billion to the organization, which focuses primarily on providing health care to developing nations and reforming American immigration policy.Learn more about Business & Finance
