As of September 2015, several websites allow users to compare automobile insurance quotes and prices, including Progressive.com, NerdWallet.com, Esurance.com and NetQuote.com. Most of these resources start out with a ZIP code search, and then offer a way to select the type of car insurance a consumer wants.
For example, type in a ZIP code and then choose the type of insurance from a drop-down menu on Progressive.com. Select auto, classic car, commercial auto, RV/trailer or mechanical repair insurance from the website. Choose to bundle insurance packages to receive more quotes, and then click the button labeled Compare & Save to continue.
On NerdWallet.com, compare auto insurance rates by inputting a ZIP code, year of the car, make of the car, model of the car and body style of the car. Then, answer the yes or no question about current insurance before clicking the button marked Compare Rates.
Start the insurance quote process using a ZIP code on Esurance.com. Then, proceed to click on the button marked Get Quotes to move to the next screen. Esurance.com claims to provide real quotes from leading companies that appear side-by-side on the website.
For NetQuote.com, input a ZIP code, and then answer a question about current insurance. Then, click on Get Quotes Now to view up to 10 auto insurance quotes after just six minutes. NetQuote.com touts quote comparisons from Progressive, State Farm, Liberty Mutual, Esurance and Travelers.
