A person can become a Disney princess by applying to work at Disney, and then going through the audition process. Disney has character auditions where interested parties can come in and audition using gestures, movements and attitude for a role at the park.
The auditions do not include scripts, and those auditioning do not need to prepare anything; however, Disney does ask those who are auditioning to consider the way that the character moves and talks so that they can replicate these behaviors in the audition.
The most important aspect of the Disney princess role is looking like the princess and the ability to act in character. The audition process is long, and first includes a standard try-out where they see if the person looks like the character with similar features. Props such as wigs can be used to match the right hair color. Then, the performer is asked to come back and do a dance or sing to see if the character has these qualities. From there, the performer is usually asked to come to a reading and perform as the character. Finally, an interview is given and the person may be hired to play a Disney princess. Disney also hires student performers, musicians, actors, singers and dancers for their park through its online audition site.
