The main types of consumer services are retail, education, health and leisure. The main aspect of consumer service is providing services to individual consumers who pay for them.
Grocers, stores and car dealers all provide retail services. As of 2013, about 15 percent of all jobs in the United States are in retail services. Eleven percent of all U.S. workers provide education services, two-thirds of which are in public education and one-third in private education. Doctors, nursing homes and hospitals, among others, provide health services. Three-quarters of the jobs in leisure and hospitality services are in restaurants and bars, the other quarter is divided abut equally between lodging and entertainment.
