The United States Postal Service delivers mail on Christmas Eve. Most post office lobbies are open on Christmas Eve, but some may close as early as noon on that day.
As of 2014, the USPS provides mail delivery on Christmas Day to most regions throughout the United States as well as temporary Sunday mail delivery until the Sunday prior to Christmas Day. The USPS estimates about 470 million packages to be delivered through Christmas Day in 2014, an increase of about 12 percent from 2013. The USPS also provides mail delivery on New Year's Eve, but it does not provide delivery services on New Year's Day.
