Stretch wrap is used to package a product or bind items together. Some industries use stretch wrap to wrap roof parts or buildings, particularly after disasters such as tornadoes and hurricanes. It is also used to wrap food products, such as meats and cheese.
Stretch wrap secures items on pallets for the purposes of shipping. This improves the stability of packages that form a unit load, makes it easier to handle and store a unit load, and it protects a unit load from moisture, dust and sunlight. Stretch wrap also has survival uses. It can be used to create shelter, collect water and wear as a poncho.
Stretch wrap is also used to remove hazardous materials, such as asbestos.
