"Get an Edge on Life" was the slogan used by the United States Army. It replaced another famous Army slogan, "Be All You Can Be."
"Get an Edge on Life" was introduced in a commercial by the Army in the 1980s. The commercial featured a helicopter landing in a field and several soldiers climbing aboard. The voice-over explains that the Army can help a person learn the skills that civilian employers are looking for, such as leadership skills, the ability to perform under pressure and motivation. The end of the commercial shows a screen with the words, "Get an Edge on Life," then fades to another screen that includes the original slogan, "Be All You Can Be."
