Washington has appeared on other types of U.S. currency over the years. His first appearance on a one-dollar note was in 1869. In 1900, he and Lafayette appeared in dual profile on the obverse side of a silver dollar issued to commemorate the Paris World's Fair. He appeared again, this time with Calvin Coolidge, again in dual profile, on the obverse of a half dollar issued to celebrate the sesquicentennial of the Declaration of Independence.
