Visitors to the 99Only.com home page can enter a city or ZIP code in the Enter Location field to view stores in that area. The site displays a map with icons for each store location, and a list of the nearby stores. Clicking on the plus sign next to each store expands that store listing, providing its address, hours and a link to get directions to the store through Google Maps.
Dave Gold founded the first 99 Cents Only Stores location in 1982. He got the idea for the store from his experience owning a liquor store. He noticed that items sold for 99 cents sold out quickly. When he opened the first store, he sold nine televisions to the store's first nine customers for 99 cents. The tradition of selling items at heavily discounted prices to the first nine customers has continued with each new store's grand opening.
The company expanded to over 350 locations. The majority of its items are priced at 99.99 cents, although there are exceptions. Items that have a different price are marked with a label indicating the price.Learn more about Coupons & Sales
