Liability coverage is designed to cover both bodily injury and property damage liabilities caused by the policyholder. This coverage doesn't include vehicles owned, furnished or made available by a policyholder for regular use by the policyholder or relatives who are not specifically covered by the policy. It also excludes vehicles with less than four wheels and injury to family members, explains Pearl Holding Group.
Personal injury protection covers bodily injury suffered by a policyholder and family members from an auto accident regardless of the cause. It covers 80 percent of medical expenses, 60 percent of income loss, death benefits and household services replacement. Uninsured motorist coverage takes care of bodily injuries on the policyholder, resident relatives and others specified caused by others not covered by the policy. This comes in a situation where the person at fault doesn't have insurance, or if the person’s liable coverage is not adequate to pay for damages. It also pays for damages caused by hit-and-run motorists, Pearl Holding Group advises.
Collision covers damages caused due to impact and upset with other objects. Comprehensive covers damage from fire, theft and other losses. Comprehensive and collision don't cover vehicles used as temporary substitutes, states Pearl Holding Group.Learn more about Vehicle Insurance
