Charles Schwab is the owner of Charles Schwab Corporation, which is an investment firm which he opened in 1971. Schwab attended Stanford University where he received his bachelor's degree, and eventually went on to get his master's degree in business.
In the mid 1970s, after the deregulation of brokerages, Schwab began to expand and grow his company by opening multiple locations and offering 24-hour service. At this point, Bank of America bought the company and it was advertised as a subsidiary of the bank. Schwab bought the company back from the bank in 1987 and took it public. Despite the stock market crash in the late 1980s, Schwab kept moving the company forward and has brought customer investments to $2 trillion.
