Travel data analyzed by Orbitz and reported by the Boston Globe lists the top ten spring break 2015 destinations in ascending order starting with number 10 as: Riviera Maya, Playa del Carmen, Miami Beach, Chicago, New Orleans, New York City, Punta Cana, Orlando, Cancun and Las Vegas.
According to the report, one of the reasons Las Vegas made the top of the list is because hotel rooms average around $115 per night. Cancun, the number two spot on the list, also gets accolades for being one of the best destinations for spring breakers on a budget. Orlando's hotel rooms top the list as some of the most expensive, averaging $357 per night. Both Chicago and New Orleans boast the lowest average airfare among popular destinations.
The study estimates that the average student budget for spring break in 2015 is under $1,000. Students report sharing a room with up to six other travelers in order to save money. The study also reports that 64 percent of non-student travelers purposely avoid traveling to spring break destinations during the most popular weeks for spring break, which are all in the month of March. Orbitz booking data was collected and analyzed for this report.
