In Florida, the state classifies manufactured homes as motor vehicles unless the owner permanently attaches them to a piece of property and declares the home as real property; otherwise, each section has its own motor vehicle title, according to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. If the owner declares the home as real property, he is responsible to pay property taxes annually. If he does not place the home on the tax rolls, the new owner is responsible for any back taxes and penalties.
