To get help through Apple online chat, go to Apple.com, click the Support button, click the Contact Support link under Contact Us, and then click on Get Started. On the new page, choose the country, device and specific problem, and then click the Chat option.
After clicking the Chat option, Apple asks for the serial number of the product to confirm whether or not the device is eligible for AppleCare cover. To find the serial number, go to the Home screen of the device, tap Settings, tap General and then tap About. Scroll down the page, and write down the number located next to Serial Number.
Type in the serial number under the Enter your serial number section of the customer support page, and then click the arrow pointing forward. On the new page, Apple connects you with an AppleCare representative via live chat. If you are not connected instantly, wait for a few minutes for the next available AppleCare representative.
For this process to work, AppleCare must cover the device in question for complimentary technical support. If not covered, you must purchase at least a single incident of support from Apple or request an exception. The single incident of support costs $19 inclusive of tax charges, as of 2015.
