As of 2014, Talbots does not have plans to close all its stores; however, the company closed approximately 100 stores between 2010 and 2011. This followed the 2008 decision to close nearly 80 Talbots men's and children's stores to focus on fashion for the Talbots core demographic: professional women.
After closing nearly 200 stores, Talbots still maintained approximately 500 store locations at the end of 2013, including both regular and outlet stores. The clothing company also has a large catalog, online store and social media presence. Talbots reached nearly 45 million customers with its catalog in 2013 though the majority of the brand's business continues to result from in-store sales.
