The Suze Orman living trust kit, also known as the Wills and Trusts kit or the Must Have Documents kit, is a computer program with audio, visual and print explanations that users can follow to plan their estates, reports the Suze Orman website. The kit contains only general information and encourages users to take forms that they create to attorneys for evaluation, notes Forbes.
The Suze Orman Must Have Documents kit is an online-only program that enables users to create revocable living trusts, wills, durable powers of attorney for health care and financial powers of attorney, explains Suze Orman. Documents and audio/visual presentations explain how to use the program, the four essential estate planning documents, the basics of estate planning and other aspects of personal finances. Users complete a questionnaire, and the program inserts personal information into documents relevant to the users' estate planning needs. When they are finished, users print out the documents and have officials witness and notarize them.
Although the kit advises users to have attorneys evaluate the completed documents, many people who purchase the kits to save money on attorneys' fees do not take that final step, according to Forbes. Because of the complexity of estate planning documents and the possibility of legal problems resulting from incomplete or faulty information, attorneys should prepare them.
