To get free stuff on The Freecycle Network, sign up for a free user account at Freecycle.com, and search or browse the listings for free items. If you don't see the item you want, post a free wanted add on the boards. New users may have to wait for a moderator to approve posts.
When you find an item you want, use the response feature to send a direct message to the poster. You can use this feature to express interest in the item, ask questions to obtain further information about it, and coordinate pick-up or delivery. Select the Mark As Taken option under the Manage section of your My Posts tab to reserve any item as you negotiate with the donor.
Members can resell items they obtain for free, but they must disclose their intent prior to completing the transaction. Bartering or trading for items is prohibited on the site, and users can't exchange money for items.
The Freecycle Network is an Arizona-based non-profit organization that connects donors and recipients of reusable goods. The organization aims to reduce the amount of reusable waste in landfills through its online registry and local efforts with other groups and non-profit organizations.
