The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting provides an examination preparation and content outline for individuals who want to take the Surgical Technologist and Surgical Assistant certification exam. The outline includes the exam topic areas that may possibly appear on the actual exam. The NBSTSA also offers a computer-based practice test, which is a simulation of the actual CST exam. As of 2015, the practice test costs $40 and is available in two versions. After the exam, the computer gives the participant a comprehensive analysis of the examinee's performance in individual questions.
