Two online stores where individuals can sell bars of silver are APMEX and Provident Metals. Each site requires users to make contact with them to negotiate the sale, after which the price becomes locked in.
The APMEX website provides two ways for users to contact one of its purchasing agents. Users may register for a free account and contact the agent online, or they may call 800-375-9006. Users can also contact a representative via the website's Live Chat feature to ask for assistance. After negotiating the sale and locking in the price for the silver, sellers receive an email confirming the sale. The seller must print out this email and ship it along with the silver, following all shipping instructions provided. Once the silver is received, APMEX pays the seller.
Provident Metals provides a list of the silver it is currently buying on the website along with what it is paying based on current market values. The prices listed change as the market fluctuates, so sellers must call 800-313-3315 between Monday and Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Central Standard Time. The seller and the Coin and Bullion department negotiate a final price, after which the seller ships the silver to Provident and receives a check as payment.
