What Are the Steps to Joining AAA?

Join the American Automobile Association, or AAA, most conveniently by accessing the official AAA website. There, you can compare the various member plans, choose the right one for you, fill out the application and pay the applicable fee. You can also join by mailing in an application or visiting a AAA shop.

  1. Compare types of membership

Go to the AAA website, and on the right menu click on Membership Types. As of 2014, AAA offers five types of membership, including Classic, Plus, Plus RV, Premier and Premier RV. All memberships have basic benefits, such as towing, battery service, flat tire change, fuel delivery, lockout service, travel planning and membership discounts. However, some plans also offer home lockout service, rental cars during emergency breakdowns, RV and motorcycle coverage, and free fuel with emergency fuel delivery.

  2. Fill out the application form

On the application form, fill in the information for the primary member. AAA covers the member, not a specific vehicle, so AAA services are available for a member regardless of the vehicle being driven. As associates with full member privileges, add up to one other adult member of the household and any unmarried children 25 years and under to the application.

  3. Pay the yearly membership fee

Once accepted, pay the membership fee for the type of membership you choose along with any additional fees for each associate member.
