Standard pallet dimensions in North America are 48 inches wide by 40 inches long. Pallets in Asia and Europe are 39.37 inches wide by 47.24 inches long or 42 inches by 42 inches. Australian standard-sized pallets are 44.88 inches by 44.88 inches.
Europe also uses standard-sized pallets that are 31.50 inches wide by 47.24 inches long to accommodate European doorways. Pallets are also defined by entry type; they have either a two-way or four-way entry. Four-way entry allows forklift trucks to have full access to the pallet. When transporting goods, the dimensions of the pallets govern the size, amount and cost of the shipment.
