Those companies made up the Southwestern System of the Bell System. In 1917, the Southwestern Telegraph and Telephone Company of Texas-Arkansas, Pioneer Telephone and Telegraph Company of Oklahoma, and The Bell Telephone Company of Missouri merged with Missouri and Kansas Telephone Company and was renamed Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Southwestern Bell provides wireless telecommunication and equipment, Web solutions and hosting, cable television, and messaging.
