Full Answer

Royal LePage was originally founded by A.E. LePage on July 2, 1913. It was then known as A.E. LePage Real Estate, or the A.E. LePage Company. In 1984, the A.E. LePage Company and fellow real estate company Royal Trust merged to form Canada's largest and most expansive real estate services organization. The new company was called Royal LePage.

Throughout its history, Royal LePage has been at the forefront of innovation in the real estate industry. In 1995, it launched Canada's first online real estate portal, RoyalLePage.ca. Five years later, the company became the country's first real estate organization to offer property search and neighborhood information through interactive mapping technology.

Royal LePage is somewhat unique as a real estate company in that it is also fairly active in philanthropy. It established the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation in 1998.
