The mobile banking offered by Regions Bank is accessible via text messaging, through the bank's online portal and by using one of its mobile apps. In addition to receiving electronic statements, the online banking is able to alert consumers when checks clear or any other transactions take place. Consumers can also deposit checks into their accounts using either an Android device, iPad or iPhone. Bill payment is available through either scheduled or on-demand payments, and Western Union access is built in to make people-to-people money transfers simple. Funds transfers are also available so that consumers can move money between accounts, including checking, savings, mortgages and installment loans.
Regions Bank started as First Alabama Bancshares in 1971. It grew through a series of strategic mergers and acquisitions, eventually becoming one of the country's top bank holding companies. The company adopted the name Regions Financial Corporation in 1994 to reflect its large geographic footprint. As of 2015, the company operates more than 1,600 locations.
