Green Dot Bank provides reloadable, prepaid Visa and Mastercard debit cards, according to Green Dot. These are available for purchase either online or at participating stores. There are different fees charged for various transactions using the cards.
The prepaid cards by Green Dot can be used to withdraw cash from ATMs, and for shopping online, paying bills or receiving paychecks, says Green Dot. The personalized Green Dot card works with any ATM that takes debit cards. When you get the card and set it up, you are asked to choose a PIN. The regular ATM machines charge a fee. Alternatively, you can use one of the 22,000 MoneyPass ATMs located in the United States, which are free to use.
Prepaid cards from Green Dot don't require a credit check to obtain. The balance on the card is whatever you decide to load on it. There is also no minimum balance required. The bank offers easy setup of direct deposit from any employer by simply adding the employer's payment information. There are some fees associated with the card, including a low monthly fee, and a fee if the card is purchased in a store. However, cards ordered online are free. Some other transactions might also have fees.
Check the balance and view a history of transactions by logging in to the Green Dot account online or using mobile phone access, says Green Dot. Reload the money online, at participating locations, or at any of the MoneyPass ATM machines. Add money online by using a different debit or credit card, or by transferring the money directly from your bank account through ACH transfer.
