Flint Hills Resources' services include crude oil refining and supply, marketing of petroleum products, biofuels manufacturing, and chemicals and polymers manufacturing. Based in Wichita, Kansas, Flint Hills Resources grew and expanded its operations through a strategy of acquisitions and capital project investments worth over $11 billion since 2002.
Flint Hills Resources refines more than 600,000 barrels of crude daily at refineries in Minnesota and Texas. It markets several petroleum products, such as asphalt, base oils, gasoline, jet fuel and diesel, as well as value-added fuels such as performance diesel fuels and cleaner-burning gasoline.
Its ethanol plants in Georgia, Iowa and Nebraska produce about 820 million gallons of ethanol annually and the company has equity investments in bioenergy companies. Its chemicals manufacturing facilities in Illinois and Texas produce chemicals such as aromatics, olefins and polymers that become raw materials for synthetic fibers, agricultural chemicals, packaging materials, industrial coatings, and appliance and automotive parts.
